- Neste RE™ feedstock helps replace fossil resources with bio-based and chemically recycled materials in plastics manufacturing
- With Neste RE, the carbon footprint of various types and applications of plastics can be reduced and hard-to-recycle plastic waste can be put to good use
- Example applications of Neste RE can be seen at Neste’s partners’ exhibition booths at Chinaplas 2024 in Shanghai
Together with its partners, Neste, the world’s largest producer of renewable diesel, sustainable aviation fuel and renewable feedstock for polymers and chemicals, will be showcasing plastic products made with Neste RE™ at this year’s Chinaplas in Shanghai from April 22 to 26. The products will be on display at the exhibition booths of Neste’s partners.
“We are looking forward to our first participation at Chinaplas,” says Carrie Song, Senior Vice President Commercial, Renewable Products at Neste. “China is the largest plastics producing market worldwide. We see ourselves as a catalyst for this industry’s transformation towards more sustainable solutions.”
Neste’s renewable and recycled raw material for plastics, sold under the brand name Neste RE™, is produced from bio-based materials such as waste and residue oils and fats and from chemically recycled plastic waste. Renewable Neste RE has a more than 85% smaller carbon footprint over its entire life cycle compared with conventionally used fossil feedstock. Recycled Neste RE on the other hand contributes to a circular economy. As Neste RE is chemically very similar to conventional fossil raw materials, it can easily be adopted and does not require changes or additional investments to the existing manufacturing infrastructure – while at the same time, it can be used to produce most polymers and chemicals and is hence eligible for various end products and applications in industries such as packaging, automotive, electronics, medical, construction as well as personal and home care. Existing applications of Neste RE include, for example, diapers, catheters, cups, coffee capsules, food packaging, pacifiers and strollers.
