Neste published its first UN Global Compact Communication on Progress

Neste has published its first Communication on Progress regarding the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact. The report focuses in particular on human rights which is currently at the top of Neste's sustainability agenda.

Neste joined the UN Global Compact in 2014 at a time when it was evident that the advancement of human rights, especially labour rights, within the supply chain would become a key longer term focus. 

"In the past year, we have worked hard with regard to the advancement of human rights and labour issues. We are collaborating with our stakeholders including suppliers and human rights specialists to tackle challenges at palm oil plantations," says Simo Honkanen, Neste Senior Vice President, Sustainability and Public Affairs.

Being part of the Global Compact has also led to increased engagement with other companies, especially in the Nordics. "The Global Compact Nordic Network is a valuable forum for sharing insights and exchanging good practices," says Honkanen. "We are very much looking forward to the Nordic Network's next meeting which will take place in Helsinki at the end of this year."
