The patented NEXBTL difference

It took years of research to make Neste MY Renewable Diesel™ this easy to use.

Based on our proprietary NEXBTL technology, three crucial steps take place at our refineries. 100% renewable raw materials are turned into a fuel that reduces your GHG emissions by up to 75%* over its lifecycle, compared to fossil diesel.

Three steps closer to your climate ambitions

1

1. Sourcing waste with potential

What many consider waste, we assess as highly valuable raw materials – and continue to diversify our portfolio of raw material sources.

The ratio of each material in our fuel varies year-to-year and across regions depending on their availability, price, and market-specific requirements.

However, the top three raw materials in Neste MY are usually animal fat waste, used cooking oil, and different wastes and residues from vegetable oil processing.

2

Purifying to create pure HVO100

Our 100% renewable waste and residues are pre-treated to remove impurities. This creates a clean raw material we can then turn into renewable products.

3

Harnessing NEXTBL’s innovation

We use additional hydrogen to remove oxygen and other impurities, like sulfur, from our renewable raw materials.

Using a process called isomerization, the unique capabilities of our proprietary NEXBTL technology fine-tunes the liquid’s hydrocarbon structure to match fossil diesel.

The end result? Neste MY Renewable Diesel. A pure R99 fuel that cuts greenhouse gas emissions by up to 75%* over its lifecycle compared to fossil diesel.

A high-performance, OEM-approved solution you can use in any diesel engine neat, or blended with any ratio of fossil diesel.

Sustainability is in our DNA

Man holding seeds in his hand

Neste MY Renewable Diesel is a more sustainable alternative to fossil diesel.

To ensure it is genuinely made from 100% renewable raw materials, we only partner with suppliers who meet our strict sustainability standards.

These standards include rules on environmental, biodiversity, and community impact, as well as human rights, diversity, and inclusion practices.

However, our quest for sustainability does not stop with Neste MY Renewable Diesel.

All our refineries have International Sustainability & Carbon Certifications (ISCC) or are approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

In addition, the Neste refineries in Porvoo, Rotterdam, and Singapore have ISO 14001 environmental certifications.

We are also well on the way to our next target: carbon neutral production operations by 2035.
