You can use renewable diesel (HVO100) in any diesel engine, without any modifications.

Use Neste MY Renewable Diesel neat or blended at any ratio, for example 20% HVO and 80% fossil diesel becomes HVO20. Neste MY Renewable Diesel also complies with the high-quality EN15940 specifications for paraffinic diesel fuel.

HVO terms at a glance

Some simple definitions to help explain the language around HVO.

Renewable diesel

Renewable diesel (or R99) is another name for HVO– a fuel made from 100% renewable raw materials such as waste and residues.

HVO

HVO is an acronym for "Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil", a renewable diesel made from 100% renewable raw materials such as waste and residues.

HVO100

HVO100 is HVO diesel at its purest – the best choice to reduce GHG emissions. A 20:80 blend of HVO to fossil diesel is HVO20.

Neste MY Renewable Diesel

Neste MY Renewable Diesel is a HVO100 fuel from Neste, the leading producer of renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel from renewable raw materials.

R99 diesel

R99 diesel is similar to HVO100, but includes a tiny proportion of fossil diesel so that producers can enjoy tax credits in the US.

Neste MY was developed with patented technology

Our 1997-patented technology, NEXBTL, was a key step to producing a fuel that helps customers reduce their GHG emissions.

The NEXBTL technology uses hydrogen to remove oxygen from fatty acids in the renewable raw materials that form the base of our fuel. Whatever the mix of renewable raw materials, NEXBTL ensures the fuel quality is always high.

This breakthrough led to Neste MY Renewable Diesel. Its similar chemical composition to fossil diesel enables fleet owners to switch to renewable fuel instantly. You do not need to make any additional investments in infrastructure or modifications.

HVO is your key to cutting GHG emissions

Neste MY Renewable Diesel (R99) can reduce your diesel engines’ GHG emissions by up to 75%* over the fuel’s lifecycle compared to fossil diesel.

It can also reduce “tailpipe” emissions that harm the engine. Plus, filters and injectors stay clean longer, potentially saving you maintenance costs.

Choose Neste MY Renewable Diesel over other HVOs

We require all our suppliers to commit to Neste Supplier Code of Conduct with criteria on human and labor rights, occupational health and safety, climate, environment and ethical business conduct. Additionally, all our renewable raw material suppliers are required to comply with Neste’s Responsible Sourcing Principle, with additional criteria on deforestation and GHG emissions. The Supplier Code of Conduct is included in the terms of contracts with all suppliers, contractors and other business partners participating in the delivery of any raw materials, products, components, materials or services to Neste, covering both direct and indirect procurement.

Our renewable products’ raw material suppliers are subject to rigorous sustainability due diligence with assessments tailored to the supplier, raw material, and any identified sustainability risks.
