Neste is continuously improving the quality of the fuels it refines and their distribution chain. The crossover prevention system being taken into use further improves the quality, safety, and eco-friendliness of fuel deliveries.

Thanks to our long-term and continuous development of our distribution chain, we have, for example, been able to significantly reduce the number of product mix-ups at stations over the past ten years. To completely eliminate product mix-ups and the resulting customer disappointments, Neste has decided to make a significant investment to improve the quality, safety and eco-friendliness of the stations covered by its fuel distribution chain.

"Even one product mix-up that endangers the quality of our products is too much", says Sam Holmberg, Vice President, Oil Retail Finland at Neste.

"In 2015, we tested a crossover prevention system covering our entire logistics chain at several Neste stations. We were highly impressed with the results. The system totally prevents any product mix-ups resulting from human error, and therefore, our customers are able to refuel at all of our stations without any cares, because they can be sure that they are getting exactly the right product", Holmberg says.

The new system not only eliminates product mix-ups, it also significantly improves safety during unloading. For example, the system monitors grounding, the use of the vapor recovery system, and the correct connection of the overfill system during unloading. This improves safety during unloading and minimizes the environmental load and environmental risks.

Currently, Neste is the only chain in Finland to start using a crossover prevention system that covers the distribution chain between the terminal, tanker truck, and the station storage tank. The system will be taken into use at all Neste stations over the next 18 months.
