The Ham Trick campaign and the EduCycle learning game won acclaim at international communications and marketing awards
The Ham Trick campaign, a demonstration of circular economy in action, and EduCycle, a learning game that makes use ofaugmented reality, won awards in two prestigious marketing and communications competitions yesterday.
The Ham Trick (Kinkkutemppu in Finnish) won gold at the 2017 European Excellence Awards (EEA) awards in Hamburg, for the best communications initiative in the energy industry. At the Eurobest awards ceremony in London the Ham Trick won bronze in the PR category of the Cars & Automotive Products & Services division. The Eurobest awards acknowledge the region's best projects in the marketing and creative sector. The EduCycle learning game developed by Neste also won bronze at Eurobest, in the Creative Data category.
"The prizes are an excellent form of recognition and proof that the campaigns really interest people. The Ham Trick is being organized again this year so the best prize of all would be for as many people as possible to take part in this practical demonstration of circular economy. Last year was the Ham Trick was organized for the first time and all proceeds were donated to charity. That will be done this year also," says Kaisa Lipponen, Director, Corporate Communications at Neste.
Neste's partners in the 2016 Kinkkutemppu campaign, for which the prizes were awarded, were Kemianteollisuus, K-ryhmä, Lassila & Tikanoja, Suomen Pakkauskierrätys RINKI, Vesilaitosyhdistys, Honkajoki, Maa- ja kotitalousnaiset and the communications agency Miltton. Even more organisations are involved in the Ham Trick this year.
The EduCycyle game was developed as part of the Pre-order the Future project. The EduCycle game was launched in April, and is now used in schools in several countries. Players get a clear picture of how people's choices affect our climate and our living environment, for the better or for worse. The objective is to bring carbon dioxide emissions down to the level specified in the Paris Agreement. Neste's partner in developing the EduCycle game was TBWA\Helsinki.
