Neste to help LK Kunegel switch to renewable diesel via the fuel distributor Bolloré Energy
Neste Corporation, News, 26 October 2022
Neste’s fuel distributor Bolloré Energy has announced an exclusive long-term supply contract with the French transportation company LK Kunegel to replace 100% of their fossil diesel use with renewable diesel (also known as HVO100) from Neste.
LK Kunegel operates 350 buses that cover around 15 million kilometers each year. By switching to Neste-produced renewable diesel, LK Kunegel expects to reduce its carbon footprint annually by 10,000 tons of CO2.
“With this, we allow transport professionals to reduce the carbon footprint of their operations immediately without having to make new investments in their fleet. We are convinced that low-carbon liquid fuels have a major role to play in decarbonizing the transport sector – now and in the future. We are proud to support LK Kunegel in its energy transition”, says Florian Mohand, Director of Energy Transition, Bolloré Energy.
“For Kunegel, one of the biggest advantages of Neste’s renewable diesel from a financial point of view is that all our coaches are perfectly compatible with this product, which makes this transition and the significant emission reductions all the easier for us as a carrier,” says Daniel Kunegel, President of LK Kunegel.
“This contract marks an important step on the journey towards decarbonizing the French market,” says Peter Zonneveld, Vice President Sales, Europe and APAC, from Neste’s Renewable Road Transportation business unit. With renewable diesel from Neste, companies can reduce their climate emissions significantly in an instant by just changing the fuel. We are committed to supporting our customers to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions by at least 20 million tons annually by 2030,” Peter Zonneveld continues.
With Neste MY Renewable Diesel™, the GHG emissions can be reduced by as much as 75 to 95% when emissions over the fuel's life cycle are compared with fossil diesel.* Neste MY Renewable Diesel is produced from 100% renewable raw materials. Being a drop-in fuel, it is fully compatible with all diesel engines, not requiring any modifications to the existing vehicles or fuel distribution infrastructures.
*) The GHG emission reduction percentage varies depending on the region-specific legislation that provides the methodology for the calculations (e.g. EU RED II 2018/2001/EU for Europe and US California LCFS for the US), and the raw material mix used to manufacture the product for each market.
